all my siller billers: Hawaii

So Jared went to Hawaii for work again... but this time I got to go too!!! Thanks to my parents for coming out to watch our kids so that I could go... it was the 1st time in 10 years we got to go away together!!! We left early Mon, Feb 8th... we landed in Honolulu at 12:30pm. okay just a brief explanation here... we have been fasting and praying for Jared to get a better paying job... 2 openings for district Manager positions opened up the end of Dec. ...San Francisco and Sacramento. Jared felt good about applying for both, was interviewed, everyone knew Jared would get one of the positions. Well when we landed in Hawaii Jared turned back on his cell phone and had received a message from the Hiring Manager, that they would like to have a conference call with him in the next hour... so we get our rental car, go check into our Hotel and wait for the call. Of course he got the job, they wouldn't have a conference call with him to say sorry you didn't get it, so we pretty much know they are going to offer him one of the positions... although we are pretty nervous, I mean this is life changing! I had already purchased tickets for us to go to the Polynesian cultural center and we had planned to just go straight there when we arrived in Hawaii. So here we are just waiting in our Hotel room for the call, Jared makes some other business calls while we're waiting... we talk about moving... finally he gets the call...not very long into the conversation, Jared looks at me and nods his head from side to side, with a very disappointed look on his face. He didn't get it... they hired people who already live in the area...!!! wow we were stunned! so we left to go to the PCC, about an hour drive, GPS told us a different way to go then what the PCC website had said. but It was an incredibly beautiful drive, I wish I would've taken pictures. We talked about the disappointment in not getting the DM position, this is the 5th time applying, it made no sense... except we both knew that it's not time for us to leave, Jared's still needed as bishop here, which is comforting to know where the lord wants us, but Jared needs to move up in his job. Jared felt forced to look outside Scott's for a better Job. So Just wanted to let you all know what's going on, we sure wished they would have just waited till we came back from Hawaii, so we could actually really enjoy our time there. but I was glad I was there when Jared received that call...

We got to the PCC about 3:30, we got to go to a couple of the Villages,
the Samoan village was great, this man was so hilarious! (at the bottom of my post there is a video and he is the main Fire dancer)

The temple... absolutely gorgeous, we also toured the Visitor's center there.

We were starving (had only ate some almonds the whole day) so right at 5pm when they started serving dinner we went and ate... yummy! then went to see the show "HA-Breath of Life" we upgraded our seats when we got there... so we had great seats in the center. It was an amazing performance, poor Jared had a massive splitting headache, and was mostly miserable the whole time.

We got back to our hotel late (especially with the time change) we were so exhausted!

On Tues, Jared had to work most of the day, I went and looked around Waikiki and picked out some souvenirs for the kids and then came back to the hotel and just relaxed. Just spent time looking out over the ocean, palm trees swaying...even got to take a nap... 1st time taking a nap... in I really can't remember! Jared got back at 6pm, went to dinner at Waikiki Burger and walked along the beach... the weather was perfect the whole time we were in Hawaii... 80 degrees!

I wanted to make sure Jared got to go to a Botanical garden while we were in Hawaii, so before he went to work on Wednesday we went to Fosters Botanical Garden...

on our last night in Waikiki.... we walked everywhere.... trying to decide where to eat, ended up going back past our hotel to Macaroni grill. ha ha!

For me it was a mostly peaceful relaxing time!! Hawaii is so beautiful... but I much prefer not being in Waikiki... I'm not one for crowds... and of course that's the tourist capital on Oahu! Jared on the other hand had to work most of time and was on the phone much of the time we even had together running his territory back home... so he didn't get much time to relax... and then with the disappointment of not getting promoted... well let's just say it wasn't the greatest week of his life!

We left early Thursday Feb 11 to fly back home... it started to rain there when we left... up above the clouds over Hawaii with the sun starting to come up... was so beautiful!

We finally arrived home at 5:30pm. The look on Jace's face when he 1st saw me... he just went to Jared, he didn't really want anything to do with me... (he had broke out in hives while we were gone, figured he was just so upset... since this is the 1st time he's been away from me...the hives finally went away on Thurs.)
