our National parks Family Vaction 2009!! ...1800 hundred miles....

I decided to plan a National parks vacation this year, (Jared's Dream vacation) and go see many of the places we've always wanted to see. I had a few nightmares before we left that one of my kids would fall off the Grand Canyon... or any of the other canyons we would be visiting... Thank goodness we didn't have any mishaps other then lots of scraped knees and elbows. Although my nightmare sure could've happened if we didn't keep track of their every move.
Also since my sisters family wasn't going to Solvang this year for the 4th, we went to my hometown for the 4th... hadn't been there for 7 years. So this trip had tons packed into it, it wasn't always the funnest... with 5 kids in tow, (many people just looked at our family, and looked at us like we were crazy, others were impressed that we would even venture such a trip,) but in the end we all enjoyed our trip, and were glad we could see sooo many beautiful places and get to spend time with family.

Wow! What a trip! You'll have to give me a copy of the map so we can do that sometime, Logio would love that! Great pics, too :)

looks like it was a fun, exciting and busy trip. that's great that you got to go to so many places. so... you should consider going to grand canyon and doing the havasupi trip. hike down 11 miles (i think) stay a few days camping. play in all the waterfalls. so gorgeous. maybe down the road a bit but, i remember growing up going there (i think the first time i was about 8). i've been 4 or 5 times it's worth the 11 mile hike in and out. i've also gone rim to rim to rim 2times with my dad. what a rewarding hike.

anyway, love all your pictures, looks like it was fun!

Fun, fun, fun Marlo!

The Havasupi Hike and camping. Oh, read very scary story in BackPacker Magazine on that place. Not run by the National Parks, but the Indian reservation. Rules and Safety change considerably. Horrific.

Glad you good do such a fun trip. Thanks for posting it all... I can see it was a lot of work.

That looked like a great vacation! I'm sure Jared was in heaven being out in the great outdoors and taking a little break from his other responsibilities.
